People in the Park !

The title of the post says it all. Told a friend I'm going to the park and yes ! - 'amalkan hidup sihat' was the reply.--practice a healthy life-style !  ....andd I wasn't alone . There were hundreds if not thousand of people jogging, cycling, brisk-walking , boat-paddling, AND dancing.

Yes dancing ! There were three groups doing one form of dancing or the other ! A small group was doing exercise to the music of jive, rock and latin-beats, another smaller group was doing the standard 'poco-poco' and the biggest group, with very good sound system and team of instructors on the stage wa doing the modern dances exercising and no one could resist the beat !

Of course---there were people - . And I would like to post some photos of the cutest boy I have ever seen lately , followed by others in future postings.

1.  The Boy In The Park.

Caught him keeping himself busy and occupied while his mother was dancing. He was all over the place but never felt out of place !

Is it a dream ?

Refer to my post on 'Sunsets' and I was so obsessed with it ! So obsessed was I that I had a dream I was in Genting waiting for the the sunset over the hills. It was so clear, It was so vivid. I saw myself driving up, full of excitement and joy !

It was a good ride. BUT, half way up, dark clouds were looming in he sky. But being the optimist that I am, I continued the journey !Told myself ...'aww, up there , we'll be above the rain clouds and the sun set will be mine.

Then it started to rain. In the dream the mist was more like fog -- it like driving into a wall ! Still-- I hope.... Then in the dream the wipers switched on on its owns . The cold was creeping in but my thick shirt was keeping me warm ....boy ! what a dream..

On reaching the peak, I found myself outside my parked car----with my camera all ready ! For what ? Its drizzling. BUT I also found found myself loving the atmosphere, environment and mood. If this is a dream, please please don't wake me up !!!

Anyway for the rest of the dream I found myself enjoying the crisp, cool, frsh, invigorating environment!!!

Although I didn't get the sunset , it is still one of the best dreams I ever had - and I'd do it all over again if I have to or get to !

The following lyrics has nothing to do with my posting . Its just that when I typed the title, it reminded me of the lyrics of a song.

Another broken dream, they say all the time
Sorry if i can't be as you'd like to find
If we could only see
Things as they're meant to be
But we believe in dreams

Satisfaction - is it a dream
No distraction - is it a dream
No more fighting - is it a dream
No backbiting - is it a dream

Promises broken, it's an imperfect world
Harsh words are spoken though they weren't meant to hurt
If we could only see
Things as they're meant to be
But no, it's just a dream

Horrible Pain

Horrible Pain   !!! Thats what it is , Today I went to the HP Tower with L and S to send L's laptop for repairs - to change the motherboard. Now before I proceed, lets highlight these point ......
  •  both L and S received their laptops at the same time in a function in Kuching sometime in 2006.
  • BOTH laptops broke-down at about the same time
  • S sent her laptop to the service department in Kuching on 15th Sept. 2009 and she was told that the warranty is over BUT the warranty for the motherboard would only expires in 2010. So she got her motherboard changed free of charge under this warranty. Great !
  • Today , at the service centre, we were told that the L's warranty is expired (fine, we know that based on the above), based on the serial number -- again fine, we accept that !
  • BUT---what sucks the most when we were told that we'd had to pay for the new motherboard and workmanship which would set us back by about a thousand ringgit -- which doesn't make sense at all
  • Discussion followed with an officer and a technician and this is the line of arguments .... Theirs ? - the serial number showed that the warranty is expired and this song was played over and over again ....Our argument ?...how come their service centre in Kuching allowed the free motherboard !! ... two laptops which were given out at the same time and would have serial numbers that were close to each other as they would have come from the same manufacturing batch !!
  • All this while we had this feeling that they were diplomatic about doubting S's case .
  • So S gave them a reference number to check !...and they found that the claim was genuine !!
  • Then we were told that THEIR Kuching branch made a mistake  ( how easy to get out of a predicament - a privilege not for us)so OUT OF KINDNESS AND 'BUSINESS SENSE',OFFERED TO REPAIR L's LAPTOP FREE OF WORKMANSHIP CHARGES AND A DISCOUNTED PRICE FOR A NEW MOTHERBOARD !!
  • When they mentioned the figure, L decided that it was not worth it ( and rightly so ) and decided to take the laptop home
  • OF COURSE HER SISTER SAID THAT THEY WOULD GET ANOTHER BRAND !!AND I AGREE ABSOLUTELY WITH HER .
IN FACT I TOLD THE OFFICER THAT MY AC*R LAPTOP IS STILL WORKING FINE AFTER 5 YEARS. OF COURSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT.

It was pretty tensed and it was a real pain to listen to the pathetic 'excuses' and recorded messages that "the serial number proved that the warranty is expired". We never denied it, but we stressed that precedent has been set by their own service centre in Kuching to change the motherboard free on the ground that it is before 2010.

So thats the story for now but more WILL be added later. ( By the way I was in Class 23-24 earlier and was surprised ( but not anymore ) that quite a few of them are having hardware problems with their laptops as well !!!

Thinking it over there's all sort of doubts and dubious suspicion in our mind, and was just wondering how many others are there facing problems with their laptop----I'm sure it must have given them Horrible Pains as well.

COMMENTS ON YOUR EXPERIENCE - BE IT GOOD OR BAD IS MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS !

Setiawangsa - KLIA - Selayang - Setiawangsa .

Boy- what a night that was ! I had to go to KLIA last night. I left my place at about 8.15am and arrived at KLIA at about 9.05 pm. I didn't want to park the car at the multi-storey car park, so instead parked by the road leading to the Arrival Terminal. I left KLIA at about 9.40pm and I had to go to Selayang. So knowing I had a long drive ahead of me ... I drove as safely and as fast as I could on the highway -- cruising at average of 150 - 160 kmph on a highway which was quite clear , fortunately.

After the Sungai Besi Toll, I had a choice of either going by Jalan Tun Abd Razak and down to Jln Kuching to Selayang OR turn to MRR2, on to Batu Caves and to Selayang.

I took the latter ! Big Mistake ---because this is one road that NEVER sleeps ! The traffic is heavier than the North-South Highway. And it seem so much further from Taman Tasik Selatan to Selayang than from my place to KLIA. I knew then it would be so much easier if I had taken the other route .

It wasn't an easy midnight drive because there were idiots who would take the right (fast) lane, and drive at a snail pace as if they were driving along the coastal road of Port Dickson on a Sunday afternoon. GRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!

Anway, coming back, I took the blessed DUKE Highway and was soon home in no time. Checked the odometer and found that I clocked about 290 km.

I'd love to end this posting with the favourite phrase ,

The story of the birds AND a stupid cat called Goofy !

In the evenings , I would throw left-over rice or bread crumbs to the birds from my computer-room window of my first floor abode . Failure to do thos will bring the birds chirping away noisily at the windows or the back balcony.  There are minors, sparrows, pigeons and crows. Once in rare whilr, there might even be a lost king-fisher. Yes , I'm not kidding.

However, while the birds are feeding , there would one stupid ( and I do mean stupid - thankfully !) creature who has dream of making a meal og any of the birds. Each time he tried, each time he failed. You see, this cat is so goofy and he is not fast at all. You could hardly call his run a 'run'.  The birds would always have plenty of time to fly away. Some would just flew up and land behind Goofy (thats what I call the cat) and continued eating. And Goofy would run and 'hide' under a car ---like the birds were not aware that of his presence.

I have never never seen him caught a bird. Maybe he was just playiing and too lazy to actually run fast enough ! Maybe he does it because being a cat, he felt he HAD to try. Any way here are photos !

One of Goofy's targets

'Oh no ! Why do these birds keep running away?'
Goofy---after another one of his famous failures !

" Hey ! I hope nobody's watching-- especially another cat ---or they all will be laughing at me the whole week !"
POOR GOOFY---HE DOESN'T KNOW THAT THE OTHER CATS ARE STILL LAUGHING AT HIS LAST FAILURE !!

"Oh well--- I can't go any faster, maybe the birds will be slower next time !"

"Now, which car should I hide under ? "

So Goofy walks away from another failure ! There are two lessons to be gained from Goofy's experience.

 1. Never give up no matter how many times you failed

2. FOR GOD'S SAKE --- LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKE AND STOP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE !!!!!!!

A gift from Sarawak ...

Thanks S.

First week of new sem. !

A regular sight since Monday !

Nice to be back in the office ( argh ! am I feeling ok or what ?). Well its nice because we still don''t have classes.
And we don't have classes simply because we don't have students ! aaaahhhhhh.... the peace and  tranquility.

There are students, maybe 2,3 or the most 4 in the class----but ususlly zilch, zero, none  !! Guess they'll all be back by next week !

Still its a good break to recover from a break ! heheheheh
