I F ....

This plate was given to me by ASH. The plate seems common enough perhaps, but, heck , read the poem !

Mind you , this is NOT for you young 'uns who are just joining the job market but perhaps for jony and me ! heheheeheh.

Two words to be explained here in order to 'appreciate' (?) the poem., 'sod off' and 'knuckered'...So according to Dictionary.com :-

1) sod off (British slang)

---   to damn :  Sod the bloody bastard.

---  sod off . to leave ( usually as an imperative) : Why don't you sod off !

2) knackered (British slang )
–adjective Briish Slang.
---  exhausted, very tired .:  He is really knackered after work.
.

The Duke ---not of Hazzard but the Highway !

So the holy month of Ramadan will soon move on.

In the past, other then the religous aspects, what reminded me most of this month is the food bazaar we get almost everywhere everyday ! The stalls selling Raya delicacies, the shoppers that throng the shopping centres, malls, alleys and supermarket.

But most of all it reminds me of the awful traffic jam that choked the roads  in the evenings. All of a suuden, everyone is driving to work, yet the trains are also choked with people. Why the sudden increase in the population of Kuala Lumpur? You wonder sometimes!

On a normal day, it would take me about 15-20 minutes of easy driving to get home if I use the Elevated Highway to Setiawangsa. But come the fasting month, It would be anything from 30 - 50 minutes. Getting into Jln Tengku Abd Rahman would usually be a mad battlr of survival, just for a 100 meters drive to the junction may take up to 20 minutes sometimes.  Then there will be a long queue at the toll boothes and from the toll to my house , after passing through Keramat amy be anything from 30 - 40 minutes .

Then came the DUKE this year. Although there is a total change in the direction of getting home, but it has been a saviour to me. Now I get to Jalan Kuching, where traffic is heavy BUT moving, for about 2 km, then turn left to this blessed highway called DUKE.

As soon as I turned into the highway, I felt like I'm home already ! It takes 3-5 minutes ONLY ! Yessir---cruising along at 140-150 kmph.... From the office I can be home in 10 minutes.

One morning, I  in the office in an astounding 7 minutes---and that was just a normal easy drive.

Yes , the DUKE is the best that has happened in the traffic scene - for me at least !

SELAMAT HARI RAYA !

On the way home, I swung by my sister's . She was looking through her collection of antique Hari Raya Cards. I mean, the Islamic year dates back to 13.. something and I can't really figure out how long ago that was.

Any way , she told me that she bought them either in Muar or Kuala Kangsar when she found them in a box and they bought the whole lot.  I spent sometime looking through them. What an amazing collection !!

Ohhh...note the old spelling system !

So this year, no electronic cards, nothing from the Yahoo image collection --- but straight from yesteryears----I send you my Raya greetings. ( lots of thanks to ASH )

Now  this next one is rather 'christmasy' to me but it gives us a glimse of the past. To me the words "joy and peace" gave it away !

...and since we're at it, I know its three months away , but here's an old Christmas card with Malaysian touch .
!

well........have a good and safe Raya everyone !

Thanks Yani !

Yeah...thanks Yani , for humouring two bored photographers who could not fulfil their quota of the day when the trip to Bukit Antarabangsa was so disappointing.  So here's the results of an informal sit-in with Yani.

Have you ever kicked your pc ??

Well... I did ! This otherwise beautiful morning !

You see, I was going to print my own copy of the last finals examinations results. So naturally I had to set the print area.

Now, the @#^%$#@$%^ of the computer took a few minutes just to do that.

Fine, I ignored that . Then the next class, ----and the same thing happened  - only it even took longer.

The funniest thing is that after the first kick, my connection to the internet is more stable, otherwise there would be intermitant disconnections ever so often.

All this has been going on for sometime, but I tolerated it . 'Clean-up', and defag the computer and just say to myself ...c'est la vie..that's life ! Not this morning ...because of date-lines and schedules....a man can take so much only !

.....and don't tell me to request for a new computer......because it is easier to go to the moon.

day 2 Photo hunt -- part 2......Buildings and scenes

2nd. Day of Photo Hunt !!

OK.. The second day. No jungles ! No mountain streams ! No blistering sun this time around. Just the cool (literally and metaphorically) KLCC !!  Yes ! I can do that !

The main attraction is the white life-size drawing of Lat the cartoonist.

But half way throught, I went crazy with my camera. Just pointing it upwards at weird angles and just shoot whatever there may be .....and....Surprise !!! I love the shots ! The composition is so 'natural' ,informal and easy ---just like the character of the photographer. Then I really went to town with this new-found technique. Expect to see more of it in the future !

In fact I'm going to give this category the priority over the life-size drawings !

ANYWAY YOU WANT IT !
The next posting will be on the cartoon and shots from the garden.
