ANOTHER SUNNYSIDEUP PRODUCTION SUCCESS !
I would like to thank all for contributing to the success of this tournament. The sporting spirit displayed was exemplary. Of course there were breaches of etiquette on bowlers but i put that down to ignorance. Maybe in the next tournament , the rules could be be motre detailed to cover certain aspects of 'what is , and what is not a distraction to a bowler before he bowls. Anyway I figured this tournament is the best ever in terms of duration, participation and crowd !
I would like to give a special thanks to those who are already working and , those on OJTs - thanks a million foe coming and participating. I was touched when I see you guys. I do not need to mention names . You know who you are ! ( Congratulation to sicko for achieving what he wanted --- to be the biggest loser ---in weights, that is ! Well done bro ! ). It was damn good to see you guys again !
Thanks to Leas and Sheila for all the help. They were and have been been my pillars of strength with all the help and encouragement they had given.
Here's the results. Check this blog later for the actual print-out from Cosmic Bowl. Photos will also follow. But for now, I am absolutely knocked out !

A WORD OF CAUTION
Finally, it is understandable if you are proud of your ball/s, but please refrain from showing and gloating over them. Thank you for your understanding. I also realized that male bowlers would be asking why this caution only to the males. The answer is because , so far , no female has approached the organizer about bringing their own ball/s.
Thank you .

Smell a rat !
Today a student asked me, " Other than a rodent, what is the meaning of 'rat' ? " She said that it was used in a movie when someone refers the word to a person. According to dictionary.com..
The above is clear enough. Talking about 'rats' ( not the rodent) this species could be anywhere. Rats would stab a knife and betray anybody for any rewards. Anything from a simple school-boy group to life in an office to international espionage ! In any movie ( or even real life) this species of human is always regarded as the lowest dirt-bag or scum and especially in stories of gangsterism, suspected 'rats' would die a terrible death.
Main Entry: rat Part of Speech: noun Definition: informer
Synonyms:
backstabber, betrayer, blabbermouth, canary, deep throat, double-crosser, fink, informant, sneak, snitch, source, squealer, stool pigeon, stoolie, tattler, tattletale, turncoat, whistle-blower, dirty dog
So I hope that explains it !

A sight to behold in all its glory --- the sunrise !
It was pretty chilly but that only adds to the excitement, mood and ambiance. A friend even had to put on two jackets to keep warm and it was a good thing that I had a spare one in the car-boot. I would normally be able to take the cold quite easily. In fact I only had a t-shirt and normal shirt over it. But this time , my hands were as cold as ice ( well all our hands ) and finally gave in and put on my jacket! I was also lucky that I had my mono-pod, so the support helped to lessen the camera-shake from the shivering ! But I'd do it all over again !
Yessir.....sunnysideup it is !!
I have put the photos in chronological order to show the stages of the sun-rise !

....of days gone by....
In a way, I was influenced by my late Abah. The first camera that I remembered he used ( and which I used to play with---and I don't mean 'play' as taking photograph ) was an Agfa camera. This camera used a foldable bellow between the lens and the film. I used to enjoy pressing the release button and watching the bellow opened up. The old photos which ASH posted in her blog were taken by this camera. And it dates back to way back when.
Then the Kodak Brownies camera. For a man in the early 1950s to have interests on photography (and music and record players - or gramaphones ) , speaks volumes of him. The Brownies or box cameras were wonderful cameras. A simple box and there are two view-finders ---one potrait, and the other landscape. The baby Brownies has a view-finder like those on old rifles., where you release two stands with different sized rectangular holes and aim the subject through these rectangular holes.
When I was in College, I took photography as a core subject. This involed developing photos in dark rooms. Of course , following my Abah's foot-step, I got to have my own dark room at home. Then my involvement spread to enlargers, chemicals - the various tyoes and the effects, and the types of papers - the matte, the glossy, the normal , the bromide and the various sizes, the exposure meters for the the enlargers.
Class lectures include all of the above, the eposure methods of the camers ( Auto was unheard of ) , the shutter speed, the type of shutters, the aperture, the co-relation between the shutter-speed and aperture, the ttl ( through the lens) metering, the mounting of the lenses- screw-mount or bayonets, the compositions, depth of field, types of light source, the types and effects of coloured filters , 'B' exposures and getting the feel and instinct of how long to open the shutter, the effects and uses of the different ISO/ASA, the types of flash systems and its effect, potrait/landscape/etc photography, time-lapse photography and etc etc etc.
At this stage I was introduced to the 'reflex system' ( indeed a step-up from the 35mm rangefinders ,the like of the excellent Cannonet).- the single lens reflex and the twin lens reflex system. The SLRs big name from Asia then were the Nikon F, Nikonmat, Asahi Pentax, Yashica was more known for the Twin Lens Reflex System with its 120 type of film which was really good for enlargements.
Somewhere along the line, my interest in photography sort of waned, and its only recently that I started all over again.
The photos below are all taken from the internet but its the same brand and model that we used to have.
