Yes Davina.....that I am jonny be goode ?---theres so many version from so many great blues singers of this song...even the rolling stones has one.
Since my students' day, i have been a fan of the blues and jazz scene. Used to do the pub crawl just to listen to some live performances---sometimes with my lecturer as well !
The live scene, even at that time was just fantastic. Audiences would be invited to come up and jam in as well and believe me, Malaysian students during my time anyway, were great sports.
I remember going round wth two good m'sian friends and somehow always got invited to come upand managed to 'bluesified' some old Maly folks songs lyrics to typical blues tunes . Yah---those were the day !
My own favourite blues singers ? Robert Lucas , Muddy Waters, B B King, John Mayall, Howlin Wolf, Terry evans,Buddy Guy, T-Bone Walker , Joe Turner and many more.
In fact my son just bought me two CDs from New Orleans, Women of Jazz and American jazz. Great cds !
im guitar player..and i play death metal, bet you dont even like this kind of music..haha
but for your information, all my riffs are heavily influenced by jazz and blues scale/pattern..mix with some minor and major scale..now im working for diminished pattern..wanted a new environment for my riffing..fuuuuhhhh...
ah..do you play guitar sir? what kind of guitar? beside electric guitar, im also play classical guitar..im studied at yamaha music, but since my dad passed away in 2006 i can't afford the fees anymore..ahahha..
Thx for your comments. Well I'm not even half a guitar player but I love music. Has been a music lover throughout my life---even now !
I use to love rock (well probably tame, compared to ur death metal) and I still do. Any genre of music can be my favourite.
But blues ,rock, some metal music of my era, pop and jazz will always top my list.Fact is, I also listen to clasicals too.
You are lucky to have formal music education. If ever there is any regret in my life, it would be not getting formal music education in any instrument.( although in my teaching days in Siongapore , I was a brass band instructor)....sigh...
