Looks like I'm keeping myself busy these days, considering everything else.
Ok , so what have I got in line? Lets see...over the past few months, I have picked up an old hobby , and loving every minute of it --- photography ! Really sometimes I wondered why I ever stopped ! I got people in the same interest and the group is still growing.
Then I have 'paced' table-tennis - meaning its not going to be rumble, tumble and fall type of game. Just simple ,nice and laden with social grace with friendly competition with some guys in PV10. It was supposed to start today, but as luck would have it, the room was closed for re-carpeting.
Anyway, enough of the intro and get on with the topic of this posting.
Yes, I have made a promise and challenged myself that in three months, I would be able to make a simple , controlled and structured conversation in a new language which I am picking up. I hope I would be able to put into practice the techniques of language learning ( which I have been drumming into my students) on myself.. Hopefully I would be able to use as much tricks and short-cuts in this learning process as well.
Three months ! Its a challenge which I have made to myself and it would be my joy and pleasure if I could have a simple ( weelll, perhaps a very simple ) conversation in that target language !
I have used the same approach when I gave myself 6 months to learn the basics of the Uighur language. I wouldn't say I was successful, but I did managed to build up a fair vocabulary for a very limited conversation --- but then ( I'm not making excuses), it is a very difficult language to learn as it is totally devoid of any similarity to our language ).
No , I am not going to reveal this new language ! Not yet anyway.! I have a good teacher, good resources--- now all I need is my will power !
Bring it on.....!

Try it this way...'Hui-gur'. Its the language of the people from Xin-jiang , a province of China.
I used to teach students from this country and as usual I got interested in the people, culture and language.
But that was about 4-5 years ago.
As to the new language I'm doing, lets just keep it under wraps first , ok ?
