The Transportation ( The Singapore Chapter 2 )

1. The Aeroline

What a treat to travel in this coach. Its so comfortable that you do not feel the sway of the vehicle. You actually felt that you're floating. But other than the machine, the human factor ( the workers that is ) plays a major part in making the journey a pleasant one. I had had the pleasure of having Suleiman as the steward in both my journeys. His pleasant ever-ready smile, ( you know its not a 'put-on') and his patience won me over . What a fine young lad !

2. The Estima treat.

We were told that on Saturday morning a car will be coming to fetch us and take us to all the places that we wanted to go. Since  my knowledge of  Singapore is totally and absolutely out of date, a driver was provided to take us wherever we want to go.

All this is the treat from ASH's former students, Oi Beck and PH . I do owe them big time !

On Saturday morning we went down to wait and instead of  a car . we never expect it to be an MPV as in a Toyata Estima. After getting over the shock, we were ready to move.

I must mention the driver/tour guide. He is Azan and not only did he take us to all our destination, but he is a driving library. I would never have got all the information from anywhere. But most of all, he could take our itinenary with a patience that does credit to his profession as a host .... and we really took him all over the island....from the west to the east, back to the centre, and back to the east again befor going back to the centre and north. I should have recorded the kilometers travelled.

3) The Taxis

There were three occasions when I had to to use the taxis. The first day from the Harbour Front to Orchard Road, and then to Jelapang. ....and on my last day to the Harbour Front to catch the Aeroline coach.

If you are expecting me to complain about them.....afraid I have to disappoint you. You see, what you get from them is courtesy and a willing service to take you as a passenger.....no matter where you want to go, no matter how far your destination is, no matter how bad the chances of them gettin new passengers when you reached your destination. No grumpiness, clean taxis, well-spoken drivers, a pleasant conversation...only when you want them to. 9 out 10 in Kuala Limpur, you never get the above services. The truth is alway ugly !
