Monday was first day of the new sem. As expected, most of the students were not back yet . however there were a few milling about , checking the time-table, registering for subjects and checking on their former and new lecturers forthe new semester.
Now , I have always encouraged my students to start a blog .If anything , that would be a basis for them to do some kind of writing on a topic of their choice . I also reminded that there is no hard and fast rule. It may just be a photograph , but at least that would encourage creativity and originality.
I believe I started this practice of encouraging students to blog, as far back as CCSS Class 10. I am pleased to note that there are many from the past still blogging ang finding their own style.
Among these , I would like to mention helas (everybody knows him), Sue of 'colours of mylife", Joanna of 'LadyEthel', Hasliz of 'Otak-ku', Aeddy of 'Alapbana' --- these come from Class 12 - 14 and I believe today we have up to Class 34.
Then there are later ones from class 23-24, Class 25 of CCSS and two students of CBDS Batch 15. There are just too many names for me to mention here. I apologize for that..
My point is this. If you're worth your salt, you would come to a stage, sooner or later, where you blog because you WANT to blog. ---- not because I asked you to ! And in the same spirit, you DON'T blog because you yourself don't want to.
So why do I post this ?
You see, on the first day of sem, a student whom I used to teach, and this sem , will be in my class again, came to me. After a few friendly exchange of words, asked me, " Sir, does this mean I have to start blogging again ? "
I was flabbergasted to hear that . Its only a weak person who would passed a remark like that and if the person is reading this, please do not misunderstand me.I'm saying that you really should have a mind of your own. Its your choice and prerogative to continue blogging or not, not for any lecturer, not for anybody and especially not for me ! !
No 'A's for blogging ---just personal satisfaction !
