LOOK OUT ! VISION OF THINGS TO COME !

TOURNAMENT REPORT AND COMMENTS.

The Individual Performance

The Team Performance

Well--it has come and it has gone ! One thing is for sure --it was one helluva day. A bloody good day ...and of course --a sunnysideup production again !

But the success of an event is impossible without the participation of people who are such great sports -- YOU PEOPLE ! the competitors who came in their number with their supporters and making displaying such sporting spirits.

CONGRATULATION TO ALL THE WINNERS , TO ALL THE COMPETITORS-STUDENTS AND LECTURERS ALIKE ! FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART ---THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH !!!

AND ALSO THANKS TO MY HELPERS. LES. SHEILA AND ROSLI---THANKS FOR YOUR TIME !

(I would like to ignore the late-comers who must have had their reasons for being late--but please understand my annoyance with you at that time as yo are holding up the bowlers in TWO lanes and it also caused inconvenienced to the management of the bowling alley. I feel there shoud not be any excuse for being late --not for a 10.30 am schedule !)

To past rivals ---congrats --you made it this time. I'm not giving excuses but I WAS mentally thrown off by a few incidents --otherwise I would have given you all a better fight. Still---you guys played well and I wouldn't ask for better rivals than the Sosomorata !

If you're wonderin what was bothering me ...well,
  • they moved the bowling lanes two lanes down --causing confusion among bowlers when everyone was hunting me down when they realised that their name was not on the designated lanes
  • the lane I got ( Lane 6 and 70 was a big screw-up. The sequence was totally mad as only one team was flashed to play while the rest waited and waited. That team already played 5 frames while the rest didn't start at all.
  • the monitor was not working so we did not know who was supposed to bowl where.
  • then they made a 'temparory' repair and we played one game.
  • but after adjusting to the lanes ...they told us to move to Lane 1 and 2 halfway through the second game. At that time we just played around as no point in 'learning' the lanes all over again and just gave up !
Anyway --those are the only pain the four teams put up with. Uts not an excuse. The game was won fair and square.

Now I am thinking of forming the KLMUC Bowling Team ---and arrange matches with other institutions. Tell me what you all think of it......

The results will be posted in my next posting and the photos in the following.

ONCE AGAIN---

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU

AND LOOK OUT FOR THE NEXT

SUNNYSIDEUP PRODUCTION ACTIVITY !

BLAST FROM A NOT-TOO-DISTANT PAST.

There were two blasts for me.

The first. Yesterday I had a visit from two ex students from Class 15. Both are fellow-blogger but the girl (or should I say lady ?) is a more regular poster.

It was sooo nice catching up with news and I am sooo happy to know that they are settled in a permanent job. We reminisced about happy time, about past class-mates and future plans . There were surprises and there were joy . My relationship with these two has always been good , like with almost all of the CCSS students. There is mutual respect .

Good God ! How time flies ! It seems like only yesterday ......Anyway, Syam and Sue--- I wish both of you all the success in your life.

The Second. I received a call from an ex-student who is in Ipoh. She was one of those students that I found so easy to talk to and comfortable with what to talk about. Again, my happiness knows no bound when I found that she has settled down to a stable life with her family. In a way , I do miss talking to her and her brand of humour. So Za , from the bottom of my heart , I wish you happiness and success in both your personal and professional life.

THIS IS IT !

REMINDER TO ALL BOWLERS !

GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!

My "International " Experience.

UPDATE ONE !

I forgot to write about two very rich Iranians . These Iranians are all VERY tall ! Now these two are great guys. They could speak English and are very proud people. They are proud that they are Parsies or Persians. I again made a mistake of putting all Middle East people in one country (like the African) and whenever I refer to them as Arabs, they get very angry.

These two are so rich . I remembered them telling me that Iranians, whenever they get up in the morning, they always wondere what to do with their money. (Imagine if all of us Malaysian are like that !)

After less than a month in KL, they bought a club in Jalan Sultan Ismail. Yes ! The whole club ! Of course I get an unlimited open invitation to the club with everything 'on the house' as long as the club is theirs !Every night they will be working and only went back at 4.00am . Theywould be late for class , but I excuse them because they really wanted to study ! So I tolD them to get a car so that they can save time travelling in public transport.

A few days later, they called me and asked me to come down from the class to see the car they had bought. I went out of the building and saw a crowd outside ans saw the two tall guys waving at me . I made my way to the road and saw them with their car --- A BRIGHT RED FERRARI !!!!!!

more updates will follow...

No, at that time, it was mainly movies at KLCC.

Yes sicko. In fact at that time, I didn't feel like I was in Malaysia. As soon as I step in the class room, I was zapped into another World - mind you, NOT country, because we all come from all over the world.

The above are comment from a member and my reply. I would like to add further.

The learning curve for me at that time was very steep. There's so much to find from so many students from so many countries. I get excited whenever my lesson somehow deviated to a comparative session of different ways of life. Let me try to recall a few interesting ones.

It was my first of many experiences with the Uighur people from Xinjiang. I was surprised initially to find out that they are Muslims. I got so interested in their country, culture, way of life and anything about them that I read up and studied their Geography that I know it like I have visited it many times. From the students, I could imagine their life, their sufferings (which I wouldn't put in writing here) and their hopes and dreams. In fact most of them dream of moving on to the West like UK, Germany, USA and so on.

The students from Libya are something else. They are such gentleman and very polished with their behaviour. Even their jokes are 'gentlemen ' jokes. The three that I had are very humble and educated. In fact they all doing their Masters degree in engineering in UM.

Indonesian ? They are very much like Malaysian except for their pronunciation. The student I had from Indonesia ranged from children of Government servants to a son of a military General.

China ? I used to have a pre-conceived idea os peopkle who are suffering and hard-pressed. But the ones I see (and there are many) were nothinglike that. They are happy , jovial and quite open in their outlook. ( Forget about that female character from 'Mind Your Language' BBC series ! They are nothing like that. Thay are very likeable to me.

Africans ! Each country has such a different culture that I admitted it was my poor perception of the African countries. I tend to put all African in one basket, be it Nigeria or Sudan. That is wrong. Each country has their own identity.

Uzbekistan ? They are the ones whom I found most difficult to understand because of their pronunciation. They sounded like Russians. I know one of my student was 'caught' by an advertising production house because of his good looks and has appeared in a few advertisements on shampoo, telephones, phone cards etc.

I have written afew postings on afew of these students a. I will update this posting with a link .

Yes--I have no regrets at all teaching in that programme .

BLAST FROM THE PAST !

This morning I found a CD of photos from my time with the International students. Those are special times in their own way. My class was like a window to the world. I get students from all over the world - Korea, Thailand, Myanmar,China, Libya, Israel, Iraq, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Russia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan -- to name a few.

In a way, it is a world unity class. They got along fine, became good buddies and I hope they are still in touch with each other. A few of them are still in contact with me.

In fact, English Language takes a back-seat most of the time as there are so many other thingS to learn and share, as well as comparing mother-tongues and the similarities of some.

Skye Edwards

By chance I discovered this singer - and what a singer. Skye Edwards. What a greeaat voice she has. Its so clear, so up-close, so everything nice... The little that I know is that she was from a group and decided to go solo. Just love her voice and I know my ex-tango-dancing student from Argentina will give up dancing by the side-walk cafe just to listen to this Skye Edwards !

FOURPLAY..

Fourplay--- one of my favourite jazz groups with that Nathan East on bass and other modern jazz legends like Bob James, Lee Ritenour and Harvey Mason. I wrote about Nathan East in one of my postings when he accompanied Eric Clapton in his concerts, as he usually did. Love his slapping style ....

FUTSAL....

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ORGANIZERs
OF THE
FUTSAL TOURNAMENT
HELD THIS MORNING
AT AMPANG !

My apologies for not being at the closing ceremony as I had some pressing family matters to attend to. Its good to see so many students involved . Its even better to see an activity in progress by the students , for the students !

It was really fantastic of Mr Naga to be there throughout and so involved . There was even a lecturer from the Wisma Sachdev branch who was playing the keeper....AND ...he will also be in the Bowling Tournament on 31st July. What a guy !

Once again my congratulations to the organizers and all the participants !!

the vision from 31/7/09

The first game

The start of the second game.

The second game .

Well, lets hope my trsining goes as planned... slowly peak at the right time . heheheeheh

My Vision !

Today I went to pay the deposit for the 21 lanes. There were 'Peace of Jerk' and 'Lanes Clear" practising. It was not unexpected at all, but I do miss the 'Ketam', 'Lantai' and 'o709'. Oh well perhaps they are are practising somewhere else .

hmmmmm...... 'Lane Clear" may pose a danger. With these kind of talent , perhaps KLMU should form a Bowling team and join a circuit or something...

Anyway , the discussion with the Manager took a while but we did finalize the whole thing - right down to supplying PA and prize-table.

After that , of course we made use of the early bird offer. How could we not resist ? But after the game, I sort of could see 31st Friday in front of me !

Why ? Check my blog tonight !

Brunch with Class 23-24 at MJ ( Maju Junction, that is ..)

Here are photos of the above after a starving session of morning class with this class.

OF THE BEST BOWLER,
WHEN ITS OVER ,
OF KLMU.
ITS JUST FOR YOU !!!!!

Leave the idiots be !

Well--just a quick detour from the current news. With regards to certain things that I wanted to do, I was rightly advised to leave the idiots alone as they are not worth my time, thoughts and feeling.

And I agree as its not worth bringing myself down to their level - nor will I insult my intelligence by reacting to their acts of desperation, stupidity and idiocy !

! So there ! Let Time be the punisher ! Its their right to act, and my right not to forgive - ever!

Life is good to me and life goes on and there are so many other things to do -- things more worthy of my time and attention.

So there --until such Time......

IT'S 42 NOW !!!!

Well it is 42 now ! The following team has just submitted the form AND paid the fees .

Peace Of Jerk -- Anas / Ashraf

ps. Please pay up the fees as soon as possible !

ITS ALL IN THE TECHNIQUE , MY FRIENDS !

So everyone's been practising hard - some openly , some secretly. But 31st. July will decide the best bowler for this year !

However don't be fooled by my practice score. hehehhe . Its all part of the strategy. Let me start with te low score first and give the high score when it masttered MOST !!!! hahaha ! *evil smile*

I like this feeling ! I like being pressured. I love giving pressure.

Keep bowling those balls people ! I know sunnysideup is a target of many bowlers !

Oh I luvit luvit luvit ! Bring it on ! ...sosomorata....ketam.......0709....lantai.......xxx.....xxxx....xxx...
