Singapore Chapter .......About Ruqxana

After the previous post on "Ruk's" - I thought I didn't do her justice by not mentioning what an extraordinary person she is. So a quick phone-call to ASH  on the possibility of doing this post and was given the go-ahead.

You could go  here for more detail although I am reproducing it in my post .Her website is www.cookerymagic.com

Cookery Magic
About Ruqxana: Believe it or not, Ruqxana Vasanwala was an engineer for 14 years before she heeded the call. Ruqxana is now pursuing her lifelong passion for cooking, and finding joy in imparting the secrets of her mouth-watering fare to willing students everywhere. A self-taught cook, she started cooking at the age of 7 and has not stopped since. For more than 30 years, she has been entertaining family members and friends with her culinary skills from all corners of the world - Indian, Chinese, Malay, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, African, American and a lot more. She also loves to bake and makes wonderful cakes, cookies, pastries and desserts. She has a diploma in Cake Decorating, Chocolate Art, Fondant, Gum Paste and Pulled Sugar from the famous Wilton School in the USA. Her love of travel ensures that she continually learns new recipes from the world over. Besides teaching out of her home, she is also in demand as a teacher at a Cooking Academy, a Museum (where she conducts regular children and family cooking classes), a Polytechnic, Business Corporations and Bookstores in Singapore. She now has quite a following of people from overseas, some who come straight from the Airport with luggage in tow, to do her cooking class even before checking into their Hotel!

I might also add that I once saw her in a Discovery Channel programme on Asian cuisines. So there you are !
